PlugMatrix Protect

WordPress

Back up everything. Recover fast.

Encrypted, verified backups of your WordPress database and files, restores that show what will change and roll back on their own if the site breaks, plugin updates that are tested before they stay, and checks that tell you when your site or its forms stop working.

  • Encrypted storage included
  • Restores that roll back on their own
Illustration with sample dataIllustration: the PlugMatrix Protect screen for a fictional shop, shop.example.com. The last backups are listed: the database at 03:00 today (84 MB, verified), the files at 03:04 (1.2 GB, of which 31 MB new, verified), and a restore point taken before updating WooCommerce yesterday at 14:12. Beside it, the site's checks: the home page is up, and the contact form and the checkout work.

How it works

From the first backup to a quick recovery

Turn it on once. After that your site is backed up, its updates are tested, and you hear about problems before your customers do.

The screens below are illustrations of the product with sample data.

  1. Step 1: Backups that finish, even on modest hosting

The plugin backs up your database and files on the schedule you choose, in your site’s timezone. Only what changed is uploaded, in small resumable pieces, so a backup carries on where it stopped instead of starting over. Every backup is encrypted for your website alone and checked before it counts, and daily, weekly and monthly copies are kept for as long as your plan allows.

  2. Step 2: Restore with a preview and a way back

Restore everything, only the database, one plugin or theme, or your uploads. Before anything changes you see what will be replaced. A restore point is taken first, the site is checked afterwards, and if it no longer loads the restore is rolled back on its own. You can still undo a restore that worked until you finalize it.

  3. Step 3: Updates that are tested before they stay

Update plugins and themes from your dashboard. A backup is taken first, then the update runs and your important pages, forms and checkout are checked again. An update that breaks the site is rolled back by itself, and a problem that was already there before the update is never blamed on it.

  4. Step 4: Know when the site, or the business, stops working

Protect checks that your site answers and that the pages that matter still show what they should: the contact form, the booking page, the checkout. A short outage is confirmed before anyone is woken up, and you are told when it is over. Business Health puts it all on one screen.

  5. Step 5: Login protection and a record of every change

Failed logins lock out the attacker, never the administrator. Two-step login with an authenticator app, an activity log with alerts when an administrator is added or changed, checks of the WordPress core files and of PHP hidden in uploads, and hardening fixes you can undo.

  6. Step 6: Back on your feet when WordPress is down

When a plugin or theme takes the site down, a small recovery helper still answers. Turn on safe mode, switch off the plugin that broke it or go back to a default theme from your dashboard, then restore it from a backup. Every step is signed, limited to your site and written to the timeline.

Why switch

One plan instead of three plugins

Most sites stitch together a backup plugin, a security plugin and an uptime service. PlugMatrix Protect does all three, with the storage included and a place next to your other PlugMatrix products.

Questions, answered

Straight answers about how PlugMatrix Protect works.

Works with the rest of PlugMatrix: Live Chat, Forms, Reviews, Bookings, SEO, Invoices and Signatures

Does it work on Shopify, Wix or other websites?

No. PlugMatrix Protect is made for WordPress: the PlugMatrix plugin backs up and restores your WordPress database and files from inside your site, so it needs WordPress. Our other products work on any website; this one does not.

Who can read my backups?

Each backup is encrypted for your website alone before it is stored. Commands that restore or change your site are signed, only accepted by your own site, and written to its timeline.

Will backups slow my site down?

Backups run in small steps and only upload what changed since the last one. You can pick a lighter resource profile for modest hosting, and pause scheduled backups at any time.

What happens if a restore goes wrong?

A restore point is taken before anything changes. If the site does not answer properly afterwards, the restore is rolled back on its own. Until you finalize a restore, you can undo it yourself.

Can I download my backups?

Yes. Download a backup from your dashboard, and keep it wherever you like.

What happens to my backups if I cancel?

Your site keeps its local protections, and you can still restore from the backups that exist until your retention period ends.

How often are backups taken, and how long are they kept?

It depends on your plan: from a daily backup kept for 30 days, up to hourly backups kept for a year. The plans below list each one.
